Real Redskins

The social network for sophisticated Redskins fans

Vinny and Dan really are idiots. 100 mil, 41 guarantee? The Skins had been doing a good job of signing FAs to reasonable contracts, I even like the Hall deal but this is just crazy.

WoW,
That's what I said this morning but not because Danny and Vinny are idiots but because to sign Haynesworth to a contract that quickly. Really have some mixed feelings being a long time Yankee hater, the Redskins have too much of a Yankee feel with the spending. I'm hoping a plan is in place this time and not more of the Fantasy Football crap which does not work.
The saying is FA is the Redskins Superbowl
Hope it's not true this time.

After letting this move sink in a little I think I've softened my opinion some, I still think we paid too much for Haynesworth but I do like the Hall signing and I like the Dockery signing. I just really really really hope Haynesworth stays healthy. And both those moves give us some options in the draft.

TJ, To me that's the problem or potential MAJOR obstacle which must be overcome.
The signing places the Redskins in a situaiton where if Albert is significantly hurt the defense may not be able to recover, but even worse if a couple of offensive tackles or running backs or anyone is hurt unlike last year the Redskins will not be able to go out and add players they will have to play with the backup players. The Redskins have very limited depth and will depend on a mostly injury free season to be competitive, if they stay injury free it should be VERY good.

The deal is actually a 4 year $42M deal. There is a huge roster bonus in year 5 which will never be paid.

Now $12M a year is a lot to pay a DT. But if Al plays like he did the last two years and stays healthy it's worth it.

Adding Dock and keeping Hall make this a great start to the offsesson, if we can get a tackle and a linebacker in the draft we should be good to go. All bets then depend on one of Thomas or Kelly stepping up and Campbell showing conclusivley he is our QB of the future.

Excellent thoughts, and my thoughts as well
